Computer and People Support (C&PS) was established in 2003 to fill a gap in the computer training market, namely, to provide one-to-one support for home computer users.

The aim, when founding the company, was to offer structured, professional one-to-one computer instruction and support at an affordable price to people who needed such services and Woman using a computerwho were struggling on their own when encountering problems.

As well as providing help and reassurance to able users, the company also supports those who are completely new to computers.

C&PS was started by Cherith Hateley, a graduate electrical engineer, with a flair for IT and a passion for sharing her computer knowledge with others. She recognised that for the home computer user there was very little available to them in the way of training or support unless they enrolled in classroom type training sessions and organised their own computer security and repairs.

Her aim was to offer personal one-to-one instruction in people’s own homes, plus a support service for customers, which included an annual service to ensure their computer was working properly and was secure [something which many people, without prompting, often forget to do!] Above all, she wanted to make computer learning inspiring, educational and enjoyable and to break down the fear so many people have of computers.

What makes C&PS unique?

We teach people how to use the computer in very much the same way that someone learns to drive a car.  Our trainers are called Computer Driving Instructors because they offer weekly one-to-one instruction with a series of tasks that are learnt and mastered through repetition. Through regular personalised training, customers learn how to position themselves properly to avoid back pain and eye strain; they learn how to protect their computer against viruses; they discover how to back up files and how to maintain and get the most out of their computer.
